Hand Drawn Birthday Icons

Free SVG, PNG and animated birthday and celebration doodles that draw themselves. These birthday icons and celebration doodles are drawn with a shaky hand. Every stroke inks itself on and then keeps wiggling, so a "happy birthday" on your screen feels like someone drew it just now.

Need birthday clipart? Every free one downloads as a transparent 512-pixel PNG, ready for an invitation, a printed cake topper or a thank-you note, and the still SVG scales up cleanly for print.

What's in the birthday set

Ready today: party hat, star, cupcake, birthday candle, balloons, confetti and 3 more (free) and cake, cake slice, balloon, party popper, gift, ticket and 20 more (Pro).

The cake is a good example of the style: a wobbly cake with a zigzag frosting edge, three candles and three little flames. Every icon in the library is stroke-only, drawn on a 48 × 48 grid with a chunky 3.4 stroke and round ends, so a birthday doodle next to a calendar or a bell from the main set still looks like one person drew both.

Where birthday icons work

Cards and e-cards

A cake doodle above the name is all a card needs. For print, use the still SVG or the PNG. For a digital card on a web page, use the animated SVG so the cake draws itself when the card opens.

Team birthdays and slides

A slide with a boiling cake and the person's name gets a smile on a Monday call. Leave everything else still.

Celebrations in your product

Sparkles on a milestone, a star on an anniversary, a cake in the profile header on someone's birthday. These little moments sit naturally inside an interface that already uses Doodle Icons.

How the happy birthday doodle animation works

When the SVG loads, its strokes draw one after another, each starting just before the previous one finishes. On the cake that means the cake first, then the candles, then the flames, the order you would draw it yourself. Then comes the boil: an SVG filter shifts the line with a little noise and steps through six frames on a loop.

The animated SVG runs on its own in modern browsers, inline or as an <img>. Many slide apps and design tools import an SVG as a still drawing, or not at all. Because the animated file keeps its strokes hidden until its animation runs, it can come out blank there, so use the still SVG or the PNG in those apps.

Birthday icons FAQ

The cake is a Pro icon. Some are. Party hat, star, cupcake, birthday candle, balloons, confetti and 3 more are free; cake, cake slice, balloon, party popper, gift, ticket and 20 more come with Doodle Icons Pro, a one-time purchase. Free icons are MIT-licensed for personal and commercial use.

Yes. Free icons are MIT-licensed. Pro icons can go on physical and digital products you sell, such as T-shirts, mugs, cards, stickers and printables, as long as they're part of your own design. What the Pro license rules out is selling or sharing the icon files themselves, or putting them in a product whose main purpose is offering icons, like an icon library, font or template marketplace. The terms have the details.

Yes, for the free ones: each free icon's page has a transparent 512px PNG next to the still and animated SVGs. Pro icons come as animated and static SVG files plus React components.

Yes. React icons use currentColor, so they follow your text color. In the SVG files, change the stroke color: the stroke attribute in the still SVG, the <style> block in the animated one.
