Hand Drawn Halloween Icons

Free SVG, PNG and animated doodles that draw themselves. These Halloween icons are the October crowd, drawn with a shaky hand. Each stroke inks itself on, then the lines keep boiling like an old cartoon, so your invites, posts and slides look a little bit alive.

Need Halloween clipart? Every free one downloads as a transparent 512-pixel PNG, ready for a party invite, a candy-bag tag or a classroom worksheet, and the still SVG scales up cleanly for print.

42 Halloween icons ready today

Free icons draw themselves in. Icons marked Pro come with Doodle Icons Pro.

What's in the Halloween icon set

Ready today: pumpkin, jack-o'-lantern, bat, witch hat, spider, ghost and 4 more (free) and smiling jack-o'-lantern, spider web, cauldron, tombstone, haunted house, coffin and 26 more (Pro).

They're drawn the same way as the rest of Doodle Icons: stroke-only, on a 48 × 48 grid, with a chunky 3.4 stroke and round ends. So a Halloween doodle can sit next to a calendar, a mail icon or an arrow from the main library and the page still looks like one person drew it.

The mood is cute. Think of something doodled in the margin of a notebook, not a horror poster. For a kids' party, a café menu or a friendly product banner, that's the right register.

Where cute Halloween icons earn their keep

Invites, cards and printables

A doodle in the corner of an invite or over the date does a lot with very little. For print, use the still SVG or the PNG so nothing depends on animation, and recolor the ink to match your paper.

Social posts and stories

Instagram and TikTok don't take SVG uploads, so the animation can't travel as a file. Play the icon in a browser and screen-record it for a short clip, or drop a still version into your design.

Slides and classroom handouts

One boiling moon on a title slide gets more attention than ten static ones. Keep the rest of the slide still.

Seasonal UI and campaigns

Put a Halloween doodle in an empty state for October, on a limited-time banner or on your 404 page. Because the icons share a grid and stroke with the full library, a seasonal swap doesn't break the rest of the interface.

October newsletters and party emails

Halloween icons give a regular newsletter a seasonal touch without a redesign: one pumpkin by the subject of the first story, or a bat beside the party date. Gmail and Outlook don't display SVG images, so use the transparent PNG and set a fixed width on the image tag, such as 48 pixels, which keeps the 512px file crisp on sharp screens. The animation won't play in an inbox.

Formats and how to download

Pick a free icon above to open its page. It downloads as a still SVG, a transparent 512px PNG or an animated SVG, with no sign-up. The animated file is self-contained: the draw-on is CSS inside the file and the boil is a standard SVG filter, so it plays in modern browsers inline or as an <img>.

Many slide apps and design tools import an SVG as a still drawing, or not at all. Because the animated file keeps its strokes hidden until its animation runs, it can come out blank there, so use the still SVG or the PNG in those apps.

In React, npm i @oreo-design/doodle-icons gives you the free icons as components. Mount <BoilFilter> once, then pass boilId to each icon for the wiggle and draw for the entrance. Pro icons come in one zip with animated SVGs, static SVGs and React components.

Free vs Pro

The free set is 203 icons today, free forever under the MIT license, for personal and commercial projects. Pro adds 1,708 more icons in the same hand, plus every new batch on the way to 2,000, for a one-time payment: $39 for the first 100 orders, $69 after that. No subscription, and you have 14 days to ask for a full refund.

Tips for spooky-but-cute layouts

  • Flip the ink on dark backgrounds. The SVGs from this site use a near-black ink (#2b2a33) that disappears on a black poster: change the stroke attribute in the still SVG, or the stroke color in the animated file's <style> block, to off-white or pumpkin orange. The React icons use currentColor.
  • Keep it to one or two moving icons per screen. A whole grid of boiling doodles gets noisy fast.
  • Save the draw-on for a one-time moment like a title slide or a hero, because it replays every time the file loads.
  • For trick-or-treat signs, candy bag labels and stickers, print from the still SVG, which stays sharp at any size. The 512px PNG covers about 1.7 inches at 300 dpi: plenty for a sticker, too small for a door poster.

Halloween icons FAQ

Some are. Pumpkin, jack-o'-lantern, bat, witch hat, spider, ghost and 4 more are free; smiling jack-o'-lantern, spider web, cauldron, tombstone, haunted house, coffin and 26 more come with Doodle Icons Pro, a one-time purchase. Free icons are MIT-licensed for personal and commercial use.

Yes, for the free ones: each free icon's page has a transparent 512px PNG next to the still and animated SVGs. Pro icons come as animated and static SVG files plus React components.

Yes. Free icons are MIT-licensed. Pro icons can go on physical and digital products you sell, such as T-shirts, mugs, cards, stickers and printables, as long as they're part of your own design. What the Pro license rules out is selling or sharing the icon files themselves, or putting them in a product whose main purpose is offering icons, like an icon library, font or template marketplace. The terms have the details.

Not as an SVG, since those apps don't accept the format. Screen-record the icon playing in a browser and post the clip instead.

That's the boil. Old hand-drawn cartoons redrew every frame, so lines never landed in quite the same place. Each icon cycles through six of those frames for as long as it's on screen.
